Each
big city of the world has its own unique mark by which it is remembered
in the hearts of the tourist and the visitors-Paris is known by Eiffel
Tower and New York by statue of liberty. The city of Pune in Maharashtra will doubtlessly be borne in mind by the Raja Dinkar Kelkar Museum, a
unique one man collection of historical and everyday-use artifacts,
in the same manner as the Shaniwar Wada.
Padmashri Dr.D.G.Kelkar (1896-1990)a resident of Pune, devoted his
entire life to build this Museum from scratch to crest with his tireless
enthusiasm and efforts. The museum is nothing less than a well-knit poem
of this poet-collector with different sections of the Museum as its
touching stanzas and the exhibits as its flowering expressions.
