Sikhism

The Sikh religion was founded by Guru Nanak in the late 15th century. Sikhism had its inception in the Hindu bhakti movement that started in south India as a reaction against the caste system & Brahmin domination of ritual. It was conceived at a time of great social unrest & was an attempt to fuse the best of Islam & Hinduism. The holy text named Adi Granth Sahib was completed by 5th Sikh guru & declared by the 10th to be a guru in its own right capable of providing leadership to the community.

Sikhism doesn't believe in  Idol worship. They believe in Khalsa. There are five emblems associated with Khalsa : Kesh (a khalsa must not cut his hair) , Kangha (comb) , Kacch (drawers; worn by soldiers), Kirpan (sabre), and Kada (a steel bracelet). The Kada is said to be a charm against evil, some claim it to remind believers that they are shackled to the God.

There are about  16 million Sikhs in India, Sikhs go to  Gurudwaras (Sikh temple) for praying , they read the whole Khalsa book in praying. Golden temple in Amritsar is the holiest shrine of Sikhism. This community is generally found in northern regions like Punjab, Haryana, Delhi etc.
