The temple is in the range of Pune District. It is just 56km from Pune. This temple is situated next to the river Kara in the village Moregoan this name is derived from the name of the bird named peacock, in Marathi means more (the peacock) and goan (village), the reason was there used to be a lot of peacocks in this village in the ancient time. And the other reason is the shape of the village is also like a peacock. As we all know peacock is our nation bird people enjoys to see these place & visit these place. The temple looks like a mosque with lots of stone steps. A big stone idol of a mouse (which is considered as a vehicle of the lord Ganesh) with a Ladu (a sweet ) in between his paws facing towards the idol of the Ganesh and a idol of a Nandi (the god in form of bull) is the main center of attraction. |

The best way to reach here from Pune is by road as it is just 64 km from here. The S.T. buses are very frequent. By railways you need to get down at either at Jejuri or at Nira and a local bus from there. The route from Pune to Moregaon is : Pune - Hadapsar - Loni - Yewat - Chauphula - Supa - Maoregaon. The place is very beautiful and the right time to visit is in rainy season as you can see a lot of peacocks in these season. |
