India’s largest running circuit 10K INTENCITY Run to start on 30th September 2018 in Pune
10-km Run, brainchild of Olympian Anand Menezes will be attended by renowned sports personalities and members of Pro Kabaddi League team Puneri Paltans
Pune, 28th September 2018: The 10K INTENCITY, one of India’s largest running circuit will start its Pune leg with its second season on Sunday, 30th September 2018. The guests of honour for the event will include personalities from Puneri Paltan Team like Girish Ernak, Nitin Tomar & Akshay Jadhav along with Common Wealth Games Medalist Krishnakumar Rane, and Open Water Swimmer Rohan More. Post Pune, the event will shift to Hyderabad and is expected to take place in the city on 28th October 2018.
Pune 10K’s Bib Distribution Center at The Pavillion Mall, Senapati Bapat Road will distribute bibs and goody bags to participants on Saturday, 29th September, 2018 and due to the heightened demand, there will be ‘On the spot registration’ on first come basis.
The marathon supported by the Athletics Federation of India, Puneri Paltan and FC Pune City covers six different cities starting from Pune across five states. Certified by the AIMS, the event will have the runners participating in various categories in the Elite 10 km Run, 5 km FitTogether Run and Future Champions 2 km Run.
Speaking on the occasion, Anand Menezes, Olympian and Promotor of 10K INTENCITY RUN says, “We are starting our second season of the 10K INTENCITY Run from Pune and we are overwhelmed with the response and warmth we have received from our society. Being a sprinter representing India at the Olympics, I am glad to see the change in our athletics scene and with the medals won at the Commonwealth Games and Asian Games recently.
He further adds, “We started a movement last year to create Olympic champions and looking at the fabulous response to the 10K INTENCITY Run across India, we are proud that lakhs of Indians have taken to running. I thank Puneities for their unending support and love and hope thousands register themselves for the Pune and forthcoming runs.”
Organisers of the marathon, Andy Event Management have spared no efforts in ensuring that the runners are well looked after during the course of the run. The 10-km stretch will have the runners start from the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex Stadium, at 6:30 am crossing an underpass of the Mumbai-Pune Highway and on to the Balewadi Phata before returning back to culminate the run at the stadium. Whereas the 5-km will begin at 7:00 am and the 2-km run will begin at 6:45 am soon after 10-km run. The entire route of 10-km will have four water points, two medical stations, markers at every km directing the runners along the route with Enerzal energy Junctions for runners to replenish themselves.
The 10KINTENCITY run will also serve one of the core ideologies of the initiative which is to give back to sportspersons of India. Through the support of the Indian Olympians Association (An association of former Olympians), a part of the money generated will be disbursed to former and current Olympians along with aspiring sportspersons so that money can be ploughed back in creating a sound infrastructure system which will not only inspire existing sportspersons but also create future Olympians of our country.
The 10K INTENCITY run which will start from Pune will be followed by Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Chennai, and will culminate on 24th February 2019 in Kolkata.
