Some tips to make your hair lustrous even in summers. Humidity and hot air can actually make hair brittle, dull and lifeless. So having decided where you fit in go in for a hair do suit your face structure and image profile. Summer may be about glorious visions of wind-blowing hair but it also also about sun-burns and dry, limp hair. 

  • Avoid using blow drier for hair and also hair sprays and curling tools. Leave your hair to dry naturally after a wash.
  • Take a cup of rum; add one big onion cut into pieces, keep the onion pieces in the rum for 48 hours. Then strain the rum and apply on the scalp daily. Use some herbal shampoo made of amla, shikakai and reetha.
  • If you must blow dry then use a leave-in conditioner to protect your hair.
  • Apply conditioner to your hair after a shampoo. Use voluminizing shampoos to give body and shine to your crowning glory.
  • Braid your hair when slightly wet. This will give you a natural wavy hairstyle. If your hair have split ends and frizzes then leave a conditioner to this part overnight. This will help restore moisture to the hair.
  • Always use a hat when you go out in the sun. Prolonged exposure of hair to the sun can lead to severe hair damage. One can use a sunscreen lotion on the hair although it is not the best option.
  • Shine products contain silicon which can give temporary results but destroy the hair texture in the long run.
  • Get your hair trimmed regularly to avoid split ends. Even hair get sunburn just like skin and it is trimming which can remove the burnt ends.
  • Use mild shampoo and natural products
  • Products that contain alcohol or formaldehyde should be avoided as it can lead to hair dryness.
  • Washing hair frequently during summer months can also result in moisture loss.
