Do your workout in intervals sprint for 30 seconds and walk  rest of the way this way you get a more effective workout. 

If you live in a hilly area or have some steep inclined roads in your locality try sprinting till about 50 meters and then jog rest of the way down; on a treadmill, you can include inclines every few minutes to get a better workout.
